How to get more bookings on Booking.com: a plain guide for small hotels
Being seen and chosen on Booking.com usually starts with doing the basics well and regularly. This guide explains steps any property can take, in plain words.
Most steps are done in the extranet, the management panel Booking.com provides for properties. It is where you manage rooms, prices, availability and guest messages.

1. Complete your profile
If guests can't find the answer to their question on your page, they often move on. Check the details in the extranet one by one:
- Facilities and services: Wi-Fi, parking, breakfast, pool, air conditioning, pet policy.
- Correct bed, size and view details for each room type.
- Check-in and check-out times, house rules and payment options.
- Booking.com's prompts about missing details or page completeness.
2. Photos and descriptions
Photos are the first thing many guests look at. Use current daylight photos that show every room type, the bathroom, breakfast and the surroundings. Photos that don't match reality turn into bad reviews.
Keep descriptions short and concrete: how many minutes to the beach, how far to the airport, what's in the room. Descriptions in your guests' languages help too.
3. Reviews and replies
Guest reviews and your score play a big part in new guests' decisions. Reply to positive reviews with a short thank-you and to negative ones calmly and concretely: acknowledge what happened and say what you did. Fixing recurring complaints at the property improves your score for the long term.
Replying quickly to guest messages also builds trust.
4. Availability and prices
A property with no rooms available can't appear in search results. Keep your calendar open well into the future and regularly check closed dates and minimum-stay rules.
Make sure your prices don't show unexpected differences between your own website, Booking.com and other channels; guests compare prices. If you use a channel manager, check now and then that prices and availability come through correctly.
5. Booking.com's visibility programmes
Booking.com offers properties some programmes that can make them more visible in search. Their terms and costs can change; whether to join depends on your property. You can find current details in the extranet and on Booking.com's partner help pages.
If you'd rather not make these decisions alone, we can assess together what suits your property.
